Man Saved Against All Odds!

The surf lifesavers who crowded Gisborne last week for the national contest should have come a few weeks earlier, when they would have seen a rescue at Makarori Beach which would have made their hair curl (flat-tops and all).

It was a real Keystone Cops job with complications from Greek mythology.

Just when the life-savers, manly fellows, were dashing to the rescue, their courageous resolves were melted by a sight of a Sea Siren. You remember the Sirens—the fabulous creatures who lured men to destruction by their song? Well, this Siren didn't sing... but, readers, was he Fabulous!
