Two 14-year-old members of the Midway Surf Club, Nick Smith and Kerry Nind, rescued a man when his boat sank off Waikanae Beach. The man was Mr F. O. Amann, of 50 Salisbury Road, In picture, he is seen after the rescue shaking hands with Nick. At right is Kerry, and at left is Ken Morse, of the Midway Club.

Some time ago, P. B. yachting representative Geoff Thompson's new bike was stolen from outside a theatre. This is all he got back—the frame and mudguards thrown into the yard of a city firm.
