Midget Pile-up
Two midget car and motor-cycle race meetings were staged by the Gisborne Club during the holiday season, and at one of these, K.K.K.'s camera recorded this incident.
Coming round the bend, Phil Benson (centre) goes into a slide, and Ernie Brown (right) is swinging hard round to avoid him. Ivan Gray, at left, is unaffected.
Coming out of his slide, Benson clears the incident (he went on to secure a place). But Brown (No 10) is now back-to-front on the track, and takes the full brunt of a collision from car No.22, driven by R. Nicholas, which has come charging out of the dust pall.
Nobody was hurt in the accident, and the cars were only slightly damaged.
