Roving Camera

The skills and arts of basket-making were taught to an enthusiastic class organised by the Country Women's Institute, with Mrs Herrick, from Hawkes Bay, as tutor. Classes were held in the War Memorial Hall.

One of the most remarkable old ladies we have photographed is Mrs A. Gould, of Stout Street. Mrs Gould, who is 94, lives alone, and although handicapped by poor sight, is a busy knitter in her spare time. She recently presented to St. John Ambulance a 50" × 30" hand-knitted quilt she made "to keep the patients warm". It was an intricate and fine-constructed piece of work.

Gisborne's "Parade of Homes," no longer thronged with curious visitors, has now settled down to normal existence.
