Museum Pieces

Among interesting displays at the Gisborne Museum this month were:

×

Side-saddle riding is almost a thing of the past. Girls today ride their horses the man's way, but will find much to interest them in this display of what grandmother wore at the hunt.

×

Penny-farthing bicycle on loan from Mrs Gardiner, Christchurch, is enough to make today's cyclists feel really pampered.

×

Mrs W. B. Dolman, Hexton, grew this odd-shaped and outsized kumara.

Not in the Museum, but a museum piece is this old bottle, surely one of the first ever made in New Zealand, which was found 4ft under the ground when excavations were made for the new Government Buildings in Read's Quay. Bottle was brought in for photographing by Miss Alexia McCreedy.
