Parade Of Homes

Estimates of total attendances at Gisborne's first Parade of Homes varied between 15,000 and 25,000. Whatever the figure, there was no question but that the event was an outstanding success, being thronged with visitors from start to finish.

Nine homes in different price categories were open for inspection. The builders drew sections and price ranges by ballot, and those in the higher price range naturally enjoyed the greater measure of public admiration.

In general the parade was a high tribute to the workmanship of Gisborne's builders.
