Miss Jillian Edwards, daughter of Mr and Mrs C. M. Edwards, 97 Fox Street. Jillian has gained the unusual distinction for a young lady of successfully completing her pharmacy examinations (New Zealand College of Pharmacy).

Miss Helen Cowle, who has been librarian at Gisborne for the past four years, and who has left to take up the appointment of organising librarian for the Country Library Service.

Mr Hambly, jr., is taking up an appointment as pastor of the Otumoetai Church near Tauranga.

The late Mr C. O. Hansen, whose death occurred in December following a road accident. Mr Hansen was born in Gisborne in 1882, and had a long and most unusually full life in business and community circles. He was a life member of the Gisborne Rowing Club, the Gisborne Club, the P. B. Rugby Union, the P. B. Cricket Club, the P.B. Golf Club, the Gisborne Boxing Association, and the P.B. Horticultural Society. He was a keen footballer, oarsman, runner, and golfer, and a student and grower of shrubs and flowers.

The late Mr R. H. Taylor, whose sudden death occurred during a visit to Auckland towards the end of last year, Mr Taylor was Gisborne's leading builder of recent years. Among the contracts which he handled in Gisborne lately were the Girls' High School and the new War Memorial building.
