Museum Re-opened

After having been closed for a lengthy period, for alterations and additions, the Gisborne museum was re-opened on a recent Saturday afternoon.

The official opening was held in the picturesque grounds of Kelvin Park, in which the art gallery and museum is situated.

The major portion of the new museum is given over to a superb collection of Maori artifacts representative of Maori culture.

Perhaps the most striking feature of the new wing is this superb set of traditional carvings.
