Anti-Hydatid Campain in Full Swing

With the combined co-operation of Departments of Agriculture, Veterinary clubs and, most of all, farmers and shepherds themselves, the fight against hydatid infection is fast becoming a major operation.

These pictures were taken at a recent rally near Waihirere, when dogs from the area were treated.

Tablet with violent purgative action is forced into dog's mouth. The mouth is held closed until tablet is swallowed. Dog's purge following the dosage is then tested for possible hydatid infection.
Although not themselves susceptible, dogs are dangerous carriers and spreaders of hydatids.
