Fashion is Top News
The wonderful world or fashion - so intriguing to women, so baffling to the mere male - has been a priority topic of conversation among Gisborne's fair sex this season. The reason is not far to seek. After a number of years in which locally worn styles kept to relatively conventional lines, the invasion of more bizarre extremes in the fashion merry-go-round, threaten to alter the appearance of even the moderately fashion-concious Gisborne woman.
On the principle that there's nothing new under the sun, "Photo News" readers with long memories might imagine they are back in the 'twenties when they eye the sheath line frock at left, But they can take heart that the bride of today (above) prefers classical beauty of line, and should compare favourably with her namesake of the 'twenties when those old wedding pictures are dragged out a generation from now.

At McGruer's parade the keynote was along more conventional lines as these pictures taken by "Photo News" indicate.
The exceptions were in the field of teenage wear — which is a world of fashion belonging very much to the teenager and nobody else.
