First of New Hotels Opened

Show week marked the opening of the first unit in an ambitious building scheme of motels fronting on to Childers Road opposite Northcote Road.

To be known as the Orange Grove motels, the area, when completed, will comprise 40 motels in 20 double units, each sleeping from six to eight people.

Each unit is fully self-contained and furnished, in the widest sense of the term, and will provide first-class accommodation facilities for families of holiday makers.

When completed the area will include facilities for bowling, tennis etc., should provide a considerable boost to Gisborne's tourist traffic.
