St. John Ambulance Brigade Band

Incorporated from what was originally the Gisborne Silver Band, the Gisborne St. John Ambulance Brigade Band is a healthy and thriving unit.

They have recently involved themselves in the lofty expense of purchasing new instruments for the band. Over £600 has been spent in this direction. With prices for quality instruments ranging between £50 for a tenor trombone and £130 for a euphonium, it is easy to realise how quickly such a sum of money is disposed of.

When "Photo News" paid a visit recently to a rehearsal of the band, a striking feature was the number of young players in the band. This is consistent with the band's policy of affording ample opportunities for younger bandsmen.
