The Lassie in the Window

As a prelude to her Opera House show, visiting lady hypnotiste, Dormia, set a girl into what is known as a "cataleptic" sleep in the window of McGruers Ltd.

The operation was widely advertised as taking place at 1.00pm and a large crowd gatherd to look on.

A local theatre made capital of the occasion to advertise a forthcoming film.

After her seven hour sojourn in McGruers window, the somnambulant lady was taken from the window (above) transported by ambulance to the Opera House (left), where she awoke, startled, before the waiting audience.

After a luxurious yawn (below left) and a furtive glance at the audience, she repaired backstage to change into suitable clothing.

Early in the programme, hypnotiste Dormia requested audience to place their hands on their heads (above). Those who were unable to unlock them had to go onstage to be unhooked.

When in a deep hypnotic sleep subjects assumed most uncanny postures.
