After waiting interminably for a power cut to end, residents of lower Aberdeen Road began to wonder if something might be wrong. When linesmen arrived, they saw that something was indeed wrong. The main transformer had blown fuses with spectacular sparks when load was restored.

Man, those really are carrots! After reading of monstrous carrots being unearthed from special compost beds, Mr G. I. Keating, Gladstone Rd., hoisted these two neolithic hugeli from his carrot bed. Of the Egmont Gold variety, the largest, almost as big as two-year-old Lynette Keating holding it, measures 22 inches in length and some 18 inches in circumference. Weight: 6½lbs.

One more step toward the "Compleat Golfer" - Frank Benson and Ken Bloomfield set out recently from Darton Field, by air, to spend a day at golf in Rotorua; planned to pick up a gremlin for caddy en route.
