Goodie v. Baddie

Paying a return visit to Gisborne, the 20 stone hooded terror "Zebra Kid" (George Bollas), gave vent to his venom on 16 stone New Zealand champion, Dick Hrstich.

Although not wellattended, it was a more active bout generally that the McKay-Bollas exhibition of the previous month.

By no means a popular winner, Bollas was awarded a decision over Hrstich when, with the falls even, (one each), Hrstich was disqualified in the seventh round.

New Zealand champion Hrstich, undoubtedly the "goodie", took his defeat very hard, pushed his opponent into the orchestra pit and the fight was continued there, until broken up by a police constable.

The "Zebra Kid" spent much of the bout climbing out of the ropes to remonstrate with the hooting audience and, on one occasion, even joined in a lively debate with a ringside spectator.
