Town v. Country

One of the decisive factors in the Rugby Queen, Anne Buckland's victory in the Queen Carnival for McRae Baths improvement, was the public support given Sunday afternoon benefit rugby matches. A spirited tussle between town and country teams at Rugby Park on a recent Sunday, drew a large crowd of supporters, both metropolitan and bucolic, to cheer on their respective representatives.

After holding a 17-6 margin over their country opponents at half time, the country team narrowed the gap to a 17-15 victory for town.
