The Gisborne Photo News

2

Back to Normal...

After several months on short commons, "Photo News" is able to advise its readers that the film position has improved to the point where it no longer endangers this magazine's exist-tence.

Following representations from commercial users, wholesalers, and photographers generally, the Government reached a decision to double supplies of photographic sensitised materials for professional and other essential users, bringing them up to 100% of 1956 purchases. This decision was made public on May 30 in a statement issued by the Minister of Customs, Mr Ray Boord.

This magazine could not have been published over the past three or four months without the aid of a number of firms who were in some measure able to assist. Our thanks are due in this connection to Kodak (N.Z.) Ltd., Agfa N.Z. Ltd., H.E. Perry Ltd., and especially to Kandid Kamera Kraft, of Gisborne, who generously made available for our use a portion of their own limited quota.

In connection with our own representations to the Minister, and to the Customs Department, our thanks are due to Mr R. A. Keeling, M.P., and to the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce, and its president, Mr H. J. Howard, for their interest and help.

Lastly, our many thanks to all those readers who personally, or by letter, or telephone, expressed their concern. They will be pleased to learn that, as far as we can now judge, the continued publication of "Photo News" is assured.
