Proof that money isn't what it used to be was given this month by this unusual visitor to Gisborne — the Taranaki Harbour Board's dredge Paritutu. She cost £34,000 in 1910, has now been sold to the Auckland Harbour Board for £40,000, after dredging New Plymouth's harbour for 47 years. The replacement for Taranaki will cost a cool £505,000.
Paritutu, able to carry only two day's fuel, called at Gisborne to re-fuel, later left for her new home via Tauranga.

The armoury of an archer is seen in this picture of the arrows Mr Jim Burton has on hand when he is competing. Made of light-weight alloy, they are grouped according to their feathers, each style of which serves a different purpose. They are American-made.

Finito, Mr P. S. McColl's horse which has been a favourite with racegoers all over the Dominion, has been presented to Mr Dick Richardson of Makaraka, and will spend his retirement there. He is seen here with Diane Richardson up, with the racecourse in background.
