A couple of specimens of one of New Zealand s rarer sharks, the Notorynchus cepedianus, or seven-gilled shark, or Tuatini, caught off Mr N.B. King's launch Christina Rae by Eric Hughes, while fishing off Young Nick's Head.

At left, the larger or the two, 7ft 6in long, with Mr W. L. King, Chalmers Road. The largest of this variety caught in N.Z. was about 9ft., but the one illustrated here far exceeds any previous record for the 7-gilled variety, as far as is known.
