Glamour Boy v. Zebra Kid

Not for some time has Gisborne had an opportunity to see professional wrestlers stage their vaudeville act at the Opera House. A measure of good entertainment was given this time by George McKay, the Glamour Boy, and George Bollas, the Zebra Kid. McKay's blonde tresses soon took on the appearance of wet tow. The theatrical head-dress of Bollas remained firmly in place in spite of all his opponent could do to remove it.

Other pictures on this page show the bout in progress.

Bollas turns on bad-man act for audience. He lacked the venom of the Great Zorro.

Bout had an unusual conclusion when after a series of running jumps at each other, both men met mid-ring in mid-air, knocked themselves out cold. Their prostrate forms are shown above.

Reviving together, they prepared to continue, but the bout was over on referee Herb Duckworth's count. So keen were the two contestants to carry on (below) that they ignored Herb's protestations, had to be dissuaded by the police, to whom (at right), the Zebra Kid expresses his disgust in typical pose.
