He Rowed Up Gladstone Road

First man we've ever heard of to row up Gladstone Road was D. Beets, of the Gisborne Rowing Club. An item like this suggests the biggest flood ever seen here, but with the weather round the shortest day behaving more like summer than winter, there's been no sign of floods yet. And the explanation of the rowing feat seen below is simply that it was part of the Rowing Queen's float in the Carnival Procession one Friday night this month. Funds are being raised by the carnival to improve the Macrae Baths (see further pictures in this issue).
