Handsome New Bank Premises

Three years of reconstruction work was completed this month when the modernised Bank of New Zealand in lower Gladstone Road opened its handsome new doors to the public. The new building, incorporating the latest in design and modern facilities for both customers and the staff, is the first in Gisborne to be faced with marble. The impressive entrance is lined with polished green Verona marble. The massive glass doors are made of armour-plate glass. The attractive facade of the building makes use of aluminium and glass in a pleasing design. Inside, there is a minimum of obstruction between the public and staff areas. A pleasing combination of natural and artificial lighting gives ideal working conditions. The principal contractor for the new building was Mr W. Owen.
