The second overseas ship ever to berth in Gisborne harbour was the Van Cloon, which berthed at the new No.6 wharf this month to load 1000 barrels of tallow from the Freezing Works. Her length was 318 feet, which is two feet less than the Tanea, the tanker which is a regular caller at Gisborne.
