Members of the staff and friends gathered at Low's reception rooms recently on the occasion of her retirement, when tributes to Miss Maxwell were paid by the present manager, Mr A. F. Waugh, and by past managers Messrs C. O. Hansen and H. C. Hanes. Older clients also voiced their esteem.

Miss E. M. Maxwell, Ormond Road, who has retired after 42 years' service with the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. at Gisborne.

Mr Jack Taylor, of 306 Ormond Road, with his sister, Mrs Grace MacEachen, of Oakland, California. Mrs MacEachen last saw her brother in November 1919 in their native Leicester, England, when she left to live in the U.S.A. Mr Taylor came to New Zealand in 1922. In 1925 he came to Gisborne to help paint the railway station, is still here.

K. R. Campbell, son of Mr and Mrs K. Campbell, of 828 Gladstone Rood, who has been awarded a flying scholarship in the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

Mr R. G. Saxby, Waitangi Street, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday, when he and Mrs Saxby entertained relatives and friends at their home.

Mrs Jeannie Stein, Aberdeen Road, whose death occurred in her 86th year, with members of her family. Left to right, they are Mrs Thomas, Mrs Sangwell, Bob, Adam, John and Mrs Prentice. Mrs Stein maintained a life-long interest in the Salvation Army, was the oldest active Salvationist in Gisborne and possibly in New Zealand. Picture was taken on occasion of her 80th birthday.
