In Memory Of The Fallen
It was memorable for the beauty and reverence of the scene on the banks of the Turanganui River, flowing full and quiet for the occasion.
It was memorable for the stirring address given by the Rev. C.B. Robinson on the debt which those who returned from war owe to those who did not return.
And in a thousand hearts it strengthened and rededicated the memory of relatives and friends, who, caught up in the toils of war, made the supreme sacrifice.

The primary purpose of Anzac is to pay homage to the fallen.
But it is also a day on which those who did not or could not serve in war can in some measure honour their debt to the men and women, marching in the parade, who played their part and returned to enjoy, with us all, the heritage they helped to preserve.
On these two pages appear pictures taken of veterans in the parade marching to the assembly point on the river-bank.
