Teenagers Sing and Dance

What happens when teenagers trip the light fantastic? Do they cut fast and loose at local dances? Do they know how to behave themselves, or do they run riot when they are let off the chain?

Many a parent worries (like parents do) about questions like these. To find the answers, "Photo News", although long past the 'teen-age-qualification, went along to a recent dance in the War Memorial Hall sponsored by the Catholic Youth Movement, found the hall packed with young people enjoying themselves, came away with these pictures and a reflection that today's youth certainly knows how to enjoy itself and does so with good grace, good manners, and an almost sedate air of maturity.

Star attraction at the dance was Johnny Summers, vocalist, of Wellington, who lined up enthusiastic young folk for group singing.

....And they really enjoyed it.

Johnnie Summers, who hails from Wellington, is a topline (N.Z.) vocalist who treats modern style with moderation and balances it with interpretations of some of the jazz classics which have appeal for older folk. With him is Matt Tarawa, of Gisborne, organiser of Showline Enterprises, which brought Johnny here.

Gay Gordons are always popular.
