The Gisborne Photo News

Greetings and Good Wishes

.....and now a word from the Editor, who wants a corner of this "Photo News" to wish all readers a Happy, Interesting, and Profitable New Year. In spite of import restrictions, it should be a good year for most people. Gisborne wool is selling well on the market, and while farmers and produce growers are suffering just now from the drought, even that must end before long.

Thanks to the loyal support of our readers, both here and in New Plymouth, the year should be one of continued expansion for "Photo News". We will have a different paper as from next issue. Soon we will have clearer and better type. Thanks to Wilton Smith's persistent efforts on the process camera, we now have much better reproductions. Later in the year the screen used for processing will be finer (133 lines to the inch), and this should make for still better pictures. And towards the end of 1958 we expect to have a new, larger, faster, and better press. These improvements are all designed to produce a better "Photo News", in keeping with our aim to give our readers the best illustrations in any magazine.
