Last Day at School

School pupils will look at this page with a certain amount of nostalgia, for the pictures were taken on the last day of school before the holidays. They show the scene at Mangapapa School as the children took part in their' last assembly, as the last patrol set out on its task and as pupils left school happily for the last time in 1957.

For June Pierce, seen below with her teacher, Mr H. A. Taylor, and the headmaster, Mr C. G. Rigby, the occasion had special significance. June, twelfth in the family of Mr and Mrs Pierce, 35 Dalrymple Road, was ending an association with the Mangapapa School which has, over 20 years, seen all 12 of the Pierce children attend the school —a record not often established these days.
