New Roebuck Road Bridge

Work has now started on the new Roebuck Road bridge over the Taruheru River, and another 12 months should see traffic in that area back to normal after an interruption of 2½ years.

The bridge will cost £42,100, of which the City Council must find about £8400. It will be much shorter, and wider, with a 24ft traffic surface.

The city approach will be a broad embankment running 200ft out into the Taruheru Mud. Truck, below, is tipping spoil on down stream side, In picture at below, new embankment is already reaching out into river.
