Youth Hostel Trips

Several trips into the country have been organised in recent months by the Gisborne Youth Hostel Association, which now has 164 members.

One of the most interesting excursions was a weekend visit to the Waitangi Falls, 60 miles from Gisborne on the Ruakituri River. The falls are reached by car and by a three-hour tramp up the river. Regarded by many as among the most beautiful waterfalls in the country, they are an impressive sight.

The Association, which has been granted a site for its new hostel at Churchill Pauk Beach, and trees for timber from Mr W. D. Cook at "Eastwoodhill", expects to start construction soon on the new building.
