Macdonald's Stables, the well-known horse-training centre at Makaraka, which are being demolished to make way for a modern structure. The stables were built 65 years ago. Assisting on that occasion was Mr Harry Moore (inset), who had an association with them for about 50 years. Many champions of the turf were trained there, including Kings Ransom.

At 310 Clifford Street, Monty, Mrs Kathy Riddell's terrier, takes a second look at a mechanical kitten which Mrs Barbara Moere brought back with her from Vancouver. Mre Moore has just returned after a 13 months working holiday there.
