Activity among sports clubs in the provision of new or improved pavilions has been marked during the past season. This is the modernised pavilion at the Kahutia Bowling Club. The old verandah has been enclosed and incorporated in the main social room, and a number of other improvements carried out.

There has been a very marked change in the landscape across the Gladstone Road bridge, where this modern used—car open-air showroom has been built on the corner of Wainui Road and the Esplanade.
