Robson Cup Basketball
The selectors had their eyes on the Poverty Bay representative basketball team when the Robson Cup match against Wairoa was decided recently, in view of the impending departure of 12 players to represent the Bay at the national tournament at Hokitika.

Poverty Bay won the cup 26–13. Team was: Betty Lee, Anne Stewart, Janet Pickett, Jackie Felton, Claire Phillips, Judy Walters, Alexia McCreedy, Beverley Henderson, Christine Clapham, Merle Smith, and Rosemary Richards.
