Mr H. C. Williams, recently–appointed city engineer at Gisborne, snapped at his desk in the Municipal Chambers. Mr Williams, who is a Bachelor of Engineering and an associate member of the Institute of Civil Engineers and the N.Z. Institute of Engineers, was a member of the engineering staff at Gisborne from 1947 to 1950. At the time of his appointment he was borough engineer at Feilding.

Des Fippard, Michael Griffin and Ivan English, three young men from Gisborne, snapped outside the Ramblers' Rest in Mottingham, England. Des, formerly with Holmes Motors, went to England two or three years ago. Now married and living there, he expects to pay Gisborne a flying visit shortly. The other two went Home this year. They will attend the big scout celebrations, and later tour the country and the continent.
