Eastern Union maintained their position as the premier Gisborne soccer team when they eliminated Thistle from the Chatham Cup competition by 4 goals to nil at the Childers Road Reserve. After this they were to. meet the Bay of Plenty victors, and if they won this game were scheduled to meet Hamilton and Auckland. It is expected that the side would be greatly strengthened by the arrival of the crack English player, Ken Armstrong, next month.
