Drovers are finding the new Waipaoa bridge at Matawhero something of a mixed blessing. Because of the hump in the bridge, motorists cannot see cattle coming on to far end of bridge, so that traffic and beasts often meet in the middle. In addition the turnabout at the western end of the bridge is a hazard for drovers.
