New arrival at Gisborne is this speedboat, seen on the harbour at Easter, piloted by its part-owners, Charlie Wilson and Kevin Pullar. Named Fairchild, the craft is said to cruise at 40 miles an hour, and be capable of a top speed approaching 50 m.p.h.

Mr Ken Bloomfield's new Piper plane at Darton Field. It has tricycle landing gear, seats four people, has a cruising speed of 130 m.p.h., and because of its relatively high wing-loading, lands at a much higher speed than most planes.
