Camp in the country

The smell of wood smoke, the invigorating tang of country air, the sight of hills and bush and sun on water—these and many other things make lasting impressions on Gisbone scouts when they make camp at Easter.

For almost anywhere in the Gisborne country, a camp is likely to be in beautiful surroundings. But none could be so beautiful, surely, as the site made available at Turihaua this Easter by Mr H. B. Williams.

It is set on high ground, well-drained, alongside the Turihaua River. To the north, the land rises gently, dotted with patches of bush, while to the south a stand of pine trees and a lofty ridge give protection. The sea is a quarter-mile away to the east.

In this Elysian setting, scouts from a number of Gisborne troops spent their Easter holidays.
