New Bird in the Sky

The first visit to Gisborne by a glider was an event which interested large numbers of Poverty Bay people last month.

The glider, owned and flown by Mr R. Russell) Hastings, paid a visit here to stimulate interest in the newlyformed Gisborne Sailplane Club.

While here, it made a number of flights from Darton Field, and impressed by its grace and beauty in the air.

The Club here hopes to purchase such a machine and develop the exhilarating sport of gliding. Anybody interested is asked to contact Messrs Allan, John Middlebrook, or R. C. Brownie.
