Old Folks Celebrate

To have paid off a mortgage of some £1000's in less than six years is a cause for celebration, and celebrations there were last month as members of the Gisborne Old Folks' Association rejoiced in the fact that their premises in Bright Street were now debt-free.

At a celebration banquet, tributes were paid to those who had worked so hard and given so generously to achieve this happy position.

The Mayor and Mayoress, as patron and patroness of the Association, were honoured guests. During the evening Mr Barker paid a ringing tribute to what he termed "this wonderful achievement."
