The new block is a further extension of the board's aim to house all brigade members on brigade property.

Mr D. M. Thompson, of Feilding (holding cup) who topped the Romney classes at the annual Ram Fair at Gisborne last month. It was his first appearance in the Gisborne show-ring. At right is the president of the local association, Mr C. H. Cooper, who made the presentation.
In the Southdown section, Mrs E. Matthews was again successful in winning the major award.

Construction of a further block of flats for the Gisborne Fire Board has now been started in Palmerston Road, adjoining the block erected some time back on the corner of Grey Street.

Additions and alterations are now in an advanced stage at the Waterfront Industry Commission buildings at the harbour. When they are completed, the buildings will occupy an area about twice the original size, and will provide waterside workers with muchly increased amenities. New concrete building can be seen at extreme left. Plan calls for present wooden building to be finished in cement plaster to match the new portion.
