The Bridge

Just when the new Matawhero bridge over the Waipaoa River will be open for traffic is a matter for some conjecture. The pictures on this page show construction as it was late in January, nearly three years after it was begun.

One thing seems certain: with only one pier to be raised to deck level, the work should be well above water level by the time the autumn floods come.
