Mrs Thrush Sits Tight

While workmen in Stout Street were helping to solve human housing problems, Mrs Thrush was worried about one of her own. She became a "squatter" in a State House that wasn't even completed.

The din of carpenters' hammers didn't deter her from building her nest and raising a family of healthy "chicks".

The time came when the nest was interfering with the building operations, so sympathetic carpenters nailed up a small shelf in a corner of a room, and put the nest there. Now Mrs Thrush sits tight, safe from the weather and marauding cats.
