Kaiti Women's Bowling Club opened its second season recently with a maximum membership of 60 —and a long waiting list.
The president of the R.S.A. Bowling Club, Mr Fred Barrack, put up the kitty, and the Mayoress, Mrs H. H. Barker, sent down the first bowl.
The Kaiti club opened on the R.S.A. green last season with a membership of 50. Ten more members were admitted this year.

Forty-three elocution pupils of Miss Maureen Keany, who were successful in Trinity College speech examinations recently. The ages of the pupils range from as young as six.

Mervyn Brown, of Ruatoria, whose 21st birthday was celebrated recently at the home of Mr and Mrs E. Grundy. Oswald Street.

The William Pettie Bridge, which may be closed to motor traffic for a long time. The Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker, predicts that it will not be replaced within his lifetime.
