The Rev. H. B. Baker, son of Mr & Mrs T. D. Baker, Whitaker St., who succeeds the Rev. C. B. Robinson as assistant priest at Holy Trinity Church.
A former Gisborne High School pupil, Mr Baker was ordained in 1953. Since then he has been assistant curate of New Mills, England. After a few months service here he will return to Mirfield to further his studies.

Mr W. F. Francis, eldest son of Mr J. Francis, Harris St., who is chief engineer of the Shaw Savill cargo-liner Cymric. The ship's recent call to Napier brought Mr Francis closer to his home town than he has been for many years. An ex-Gisborne High School pupil, he first went to sea in 1937.

Mr Tom Walsh, Valley Road, who has completed 50 years in the painting trade. He learnt the trade as an apprentice with the late Mr Morrison. Jobs he has worked on include the Tolaga Bay courthouse and the new Te Puia Hospital.
