Mr Poul Gnatt, leader of the New Zealand Ballet Company, is seen in this pictare instructing members of the company in Low's Reception Rooms daring a recent visit to Gisborne. Instruction was also given to about 30 members of the newly-formed Gisborne Ballet Group.
Mr Gnatt was impressed with the interest in ballet revealed by this large number of pupils, and devoted a considerable deal of his time here to them.

The premier award at the 21st annual Aberdeen Angus Bull Fair at Matownero was won by Mrs E. Matthews with her Cadet of Te Ruanui. Picture shows Mr Matthews (centre) about to receive the trophy from Mr Reg Hine, vice-president of the Gisborne Stud Beef Cattle Breeders' Association. On his right is Mr C. H. Cooper, president of the association. The bull was knocked down to Mr W. D. Maude for 325 gns.

These fifth grade players (kneeling) constituted the first Poverty Bay representative football team to win a match on Rugby Park, Gisborne. They beat the Auckland ninth grade reps (standing) by 11 points to 9 in one of the curtain-raisers to the senior match against the Olympians. Left to right they are T. Phelps (captain), P. Shultz (vice captain), S. Robertson, I. MacEarlish, R. Taylor, G. Finlay, A. Davie, S. Brebner, J. Henry, I. Lee, C. Valentine, G. Maxwell, P. McClutchie, J. Dobbie, D. Tamatea, and D. Short. Their selector and coach, not shown, was Mr Calum Campbell.
