Mr Valentine, a former P. B. Rugby selector, is a member of the Heni Mataroa Advisory Board, and a committee member of the Gisborne Swimming Club.

Mrs Redstone is an executive member of the Parent-Teachers' Association and the P. B. Gardening Club.

On a recent visit to Gisborne, Miss Jean McKenzie, former New Zealand Minister in Paris, was able to renew many old friendships.

As a stenographer with the Public Works Department here 35 years ago, Miss McKenzie joined the Girls' Emergency Corps, a patriotic organisation which was continued as a social group after the First World War.

Mr A. E. Valentine, Iranui Road and Mrs F. E. Redstone, Clifford Street, who were recently elected to the Gisborne High School Board of Governors.

Former members of the corps gathered for afternoon tea at the home of Mrs M. Littlewood recently to discuss old times with Miss McKenzie, who is pictured here (right) with Mrs Littlewood and the Mayoress, Mrs H. H. Barker.

Mrs M. Hall, who is returning home to Natal, South Africa, after a six months' stay in Gisborne. She became vice-president of the Gisborne Chess Club and taught for a period at the Gisborne Girls' High School.

Mr J. T. Ryan, Clifford Street, who was recently elected a life member of the Poverty Bay-East Coast Piping and Dancing Centre. He has been a strong supporter of the centre since its formation 23 years ago.
