Fourteen students completing a full-time 12 week Quantity Cookery Course at Tairawhiti Polytecnic, put all their skills into practice recently when they catered for 200 people at the Fit Food luncheons organised by the Cancer Society. Given recipes selected from the Fit Food cookbooks, organising themselves to be ready on time and providing sufficient for such a large number was a real challenge met with plenty of enthusiasm and delicious results. The students designed and made their own uniforms as well as working towards their Institutional Training Advisory Committee Certificate.

The students pictured with Section Head of Catering and Tutor Jennie Lawry (2nd from Right) are Ann Garrett, Hine Mackey, Laani Maraki, Jeannie Timoteo, Louise Kemp, Jean Mankelow, Sandy Holmes, Mere Te Are, Vi Pirini, Karwyn Papuni, Nathan Maraki and Wayne Roberts.
