It was Trafalgar Day, 20th Oct 1905 and it was the opening day of the boating season. The band played popular airs to entertain the people for the Public Holiday.
The band rotunda at Reid's Quay (left), has a unique view of the 3 rivers. History tells us this was called The Point and that the original Trafalgar Rotunda was moved from the Botanical Gardens for its offical christening and handing over to the people of Gisborne
