Millinery

"Photo News" cameras took a peep at the millinery class — and saw 15 busy women, absorbed in their newly-found technique of making hats.

The "pupils" choose a style from a fashion magazine, then set to work with straw or felt, building up their creation on a wooden block.

Millinery instruction enables the "pupils" to cut expensive hats from their household budgets and provides them with an interesting hobby at the same time.

There was an air of happy informality in the classroom as the women busied themselves with needles and hat-blocks.
